Budget Cuts

An article from the NY Times, Feb. 17, 17, Popular Domestic Programs Face Ax Under First Trump Budget providess a check list over programs that may be axed:

  • Corporation for Public Broadcasting
  • the Legal Services Corporation.
  • the National Endowments for the Arts and the Humanities
  • Former Representative Mick Mulvaney, a spending hard-liner, is now in place as budget director,

    with a list of nine programs to eliminate, an opening salvo in the Trump administration’s effort to reorder the government and increase spending on defense and infrastructure.

    Other notable objects of reduction or outright elimination are the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy, which dispenses grants to reduce drug use and drug trafficing, this despite Trump’s stated concerns about national drug problems, as well as a seeming desire to ax the Export Import Bank, despite Trump’s professed pomotion of exports.
