Ivory Coast Update March 3, 2011- Six female demonstrators shot dead, electricity and water shut down in the north

From a BBC report:

Six female demonstrators, marching in support of Ouattara, the UN recognized winner of November elections, were shot dead in the country’s city Abidjan, by the security forces of the defeated former president, Gbagbo, who refuses to leave office.

The UNHCR reported that thousands have fled to Liberia or back to relatives, and the UN Security Council has warned that civil war could return to the country as a result of the deadlock after the November elections.

Electricity and water have been cut off in the north of the country which is traditionally opposed to Gbagbo.
