Update Ivory Coast – Jan. 1, 2011

From a Bloomberg report:

  • West African military commanders are making contigency plans to remove incumbent Ivory Coast president Gbagbo, who lost the Nov. 2010 election, and replace him with the nominal winner of the election, Ouattara, in the event that diplomacy fails to convince him to leave office. The plan is to be completed by the time of a Jan. 17 meeting of W. African defense chiefs.
  • President Obama has offered Gbagbo an unspecificied role in international affairs and/or assistance in relocating to another country.
