Gulf Oil Spill and how much is left

So first the government and the media told us that reports were claiming that there was only 25% of the oil released into the Gulf as a result of the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig was left in the water.

Now a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration official tells us that threequarters of the released oil is still in the water.

“Roughly three-quarters of the oil that spilled into the Gulf of Mexico from BP’s ruptured well is still in the environment, a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration official told a House panel Thursday.

The estimate contrasts previous pronouncements by administration officials that only about a quarter of the oil remains to be addressed.”

I for one would not be swimming in that water off the Louisiana coast at least and would not be eating food fished in the Gulf presently.
